    府中市寿町で明治５年から公立校として誕生。
    以来、多くの生徒数・歴史を誇る。グラウンドが芝生となっており、とても広い感触を受ける。

    ５～６年では、昭和３６年から続く「鼓笛隊」を編成しブラスバンド・マーチを演奏することになるのが伝統行事である。（オリンピック出場実績あり）
    ６年生は卒業の時にはこの継承式を行い、制服の委譲を行う伝統行事がある。

    「武蔵府中郷土かるた」にも出展がある代表小学校である。
